Hey ropetowners,

On our Hydross kill this week he bugged and was unlootable. I heard you guys had a similar loot issue recently and that a gm was able to help you. I'm wondering if that is true.

For those interested this is exactly what happened (copied from my rnd post):

I filed a petition on my character Snovv on burning legion (us server). I was raid leader of a raid that killed Hydross in coilfang at 09:22:48 pm cst on wednesday April 25th 2007. At 1% on the boss, agro was stolen and Hydross changed phase from frost to nature. As he was changing we killed him and he fell over dead. He was not sparkly and was unlootable. It was on ffa loot. The corpse was bugged.

I and several others put in a gm ticket immediately and we had an officer (Lyion) stay at the corpse to hold it open while the raid moved on to gruuls lair.

A gm (Kadames) contacted me first. I was currently busy tanking a mob in the king maulgar encounter and asked him if he could direct questions to our officer lyion who was at the corpse and free to talk. He told me that he could only talk to people with open peititions. I pointed out that lyion also had a petition open. Kadames refused to talk to lyion despite this. I was not impressed by this response. Consequently I talked to Kadames as I could while tanking in the king encounter; the conversation went slowly since I was busy tanking + leading the raid.

His first question was at what time this issue occurred. I responded that it happened at exactly 09:22:48 pm cst server time and I pointed out that my gm ticket said this. This made me even more unimpressed.

Kadames then told me he was unable to help us with any loot issue. I pointed out that a gm had helped us on a loot issue not too long ago and that another gm had helped a guild that we are friends with within the last month on a loot issue. Someone else also pointed out that nihilium had been helped on a loot issue on their world first kill of Phoenix in tempest keep. Regardless, this answer did not make sense to me. When I told him I was surprised by this answer for the above reasons he repeated that he could not help me on this loot issue. He then closed my ticket before I had finished responding and I got a default msg "SYSTEM. This Game Master does not currently have an open ticket from you and did not receive your whisper. Please submit a new GM Ticket request if you need to speak to a GM. This is an automatic message." I found this response quite contrary to what blizzard had done in the near past and I also found it somewhat rude.

Regardless, another gm (Valentyyr) then contacted another member in our raid named Oddjob and told us that gms could help us with loot issues but they could only do this by talking to the raid leader. Oddjob told him that the raid leader (me) was online and wanted to talk to him. Valentyyr responded that he could only help me if I had a petition open. I didnt have a petition open because Kadames had just closed mine. Valentyyr was equally not helpful. At this point we were exceedingly frustrated and disappointed with blizzards customer service.

Finally a 3rd gm contacted our member Shintta who was present for the kill as well. He told us that gms could help us on loot issues and that he was forwarding our ticket to a specialist team to investigate the issue.

A 4th gm then contacted our officer Lyion (who was still at the corpse that had just despawned). This gm also told us that he gms could help us with loot issues and that he was forwarding our tickets to a specialist team to investigate the issue.

Hopefully this issue will be resolved. More importantly, we all are very disappointed in the contradictory responses of the several gms. I felt that the initial responses we got were somewhat unprofessional. It also appears that several gms are rather uninformed about blizzards own policies. This doesnt really give me much confidence in the ability of blizzards gms to help us in any matter where they should be able to do so. Hopefully this issue reachs the attention of someone at blizzard in management, and hopefully changes will be made in order to improve customer service and make the company better. I also hope that this informs other people in the raiding community that may experience similar issues such as this.

Regardless I was wondering if something similar happened to you guys since there was a rumor it did.

Wow that sucks to hear Snow :( I don't think anything like that has happened to us for a long time, most recently being like way back in the day when one of our Rag kills bugged out before I could loot a ring. Later in the week a GM contacted me and mailed me said item though.

Hopefully the specialist can sort that out for you guys :(

This is the point where computers start getting thrown in a lake. That's just terrible.

hah, well thanks for the support. It is looking like a blizzard specialist is helping us and that we will in fact be able to loot the items that should have dropped for us. *keeps fingers crossed though* The whole experience still was rather frustrating and made me wonder about the gm system

Just a note on GMs - they get paid near minimum wage, and when they were located in SoCal they didn't get a very good selection of people, so they cherry picked a few GMs/GM Leads and relocated the entire CS office to Austin, Texas where the cost of living is considerably lower - thereby remaining the same salary but having a larger selection of people to choose from. Unfortunately this means that for a while GMs are going to be nigh clueless and won't really know what is going on for at least 2 months (the period of time it takes for a GM to coalesce in his/her position and feel comfortable making decisions)

Most GMs are already useless and it's a miracle finding a competent one.
